Just watched a movie about a FTM-transgender boy…

it’s a German independent film called “Romeos”.

You can find it here (Ger with Eng Subs): http://www.alluc.org/movies/watch-romeos-2011-online/365985.html

“Female to male”-transgender. The film portrayed the suffering of 20 year old Lukas (former Miriam, picture left) who is coming to a new town, getting to know new people.

He looks very masculine but has still the female body. And he discovers that he is gay, too. And in love with a huge idiot (Fabio, picture right).

The film had some really cute scene. Both main characters look really good. I liked the topic, too. The ending is really cute and beautiful. But it’s a German movie and they are kind of weird. I’m German I’m allowed to say that. But yeah. Low budget and stiff dialogues. The characters are sometimes not thought-through. That’s a pity. The actors aren’t that bad but the screen play… But all in all - see for yourself, just watch it. It makes you think. (I could give a better critique but not at this hour and in this language…)

Well… transgender is a topic I recently met while watching Degrassi Next Generation. In both, the series and the film, it was FTM (though in Degrassi he was portayed by a girl while Lukas is played by a man).

When I first faced this topic I thought: “And?” Like in: Where is the problem? Not for them, but about being transgender. I don’t want to say, that it’s nice to be transgender. Hell no! I can imagine how painful it is to wake up in th wrong body everyday. What I wanted to say: Why are others making such a fuss out of it?

I don’t think it’s weird in any kind of way. Nor is it disgusting. Don’t ever let anyone tell you otherwise! Just because it’s not common doesn’t mean it’s abnormal. Why would it? Humans are humans. And humans are intelligent beings who have an identity. Intelligent beings understand why some want a different body which fits their identity best.

I was really shocked that Lukas couldn’t tell his secret to his new friends. I mean, it’s not like he wanted to seduce them and run around naked all the time. In the film Lukas suffers really much from his appearence, so why adding more pain? Why should someone do that? That’s ignorant and just plain stupid. That’s so stupid I can’t even understand these people.

It’s sad that these kind of movies are only seen by people who suffer from these problems, people who are interested in these topics and people who generally open for new things. Those who don’t care or hate will never watch something like this.

Stop the hate. We all have to live on this planet.

Hate is just not knowing better. Let’s teach them.
Love is love. I don’t have to be gay to see that.

I hope Germany will legalize same-sex marriage soon!
